Student Support Services at IECC is 100% funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  This is great news for our students!  This means that any and all services offered by our program come at NO COST to our students or their parents.  We truly believe that with a motivated student and the right support, anything is possible.

What can SSS do for you?

SERVICES

ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE​

The Student Support Services provides free academic assistance.  The academic assistance personnel work with students individually and in small groups.

MENTORING

New participants are provided with a peer mentor to help them adjust to campus life. 



SSS CLASSES

Participants will be able to develop their study skills with the help of academic advisors in a classroom environment.  Career exploration experiences will be provided in group and individual settings.

FINANCIAL AID ADVISING

Student Support Services participants are advised of the various types of financial aid and scholarships available.  Participants will receive assistance with financial aid and scholarship application procedures.

SEMINARS/WORKSHOPS

The Student Support Services offers seminars, workshops, and conferences.  Topics vary each semester and are based upon the requests and needs of Student Support Services students.

CULTURAL/EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Student Support Services participants will be involved in cultural/educational activities sponsored by the project.  These may include field trips to museums and exhibits, concerts, universities, etc.

TUTORING SERVICES

Free tutoring is available at each of the IECC colleges either in person or online.

 

TRANSFER ASSISTANCE

Priority for admission will be given to those students who plan to continue their education beyond Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC).  The project provides opportunities to visit other college campuses and acquire college transfer information to facilitate successful transfer from an IECC campus to a four-year institution.

 

EQUIPMENT LOAN PROGRAM & SUPPLIES

The Student Support Services provides tools to participants to assist in their educational success.  The loan program includes laptops, voice recorders and graphing calculators.  Each campus has available an educational reference library.  Supplies may include USB Flash drives, student planners and portfolios.
